Frequently Asked Questions

How many inspections can be completed in a day?

In higher population metro areas 60 or more per day is common, in more rural areas 40 or more per day is common.  The number that you will be able to complete each day will depend on your area and volume, as well as things like if you have your orders routed and all your supplies prepared.

How long do inspections take?

Some inspections can be as quick as 1-2 minutes, but depending on the inspection type and what items need reported some can take several minutes.  An average of around 5 minutes per house is common.

How do I route my orders?

There are many options available for optimizing the route so you can do the least driving possible.  Most of the mobile apps that inspections are completed in have routing options, but if you are completing work in more than one app these might be hard to use.  Some inspectors pay for online routing services, or use free options.  Our video library will have resources on options for routing, and based on your situation you will have to figure out which option is best for you.

How can I get more volume? / How do I get more inspections in my area?

Many inspectors find they enjoy the work and the extra income but want more work in their area.  First make sure you are getting good compliance scores (meaning work is turned in on time) and have good quality in your work – it is hard to get additional orders if the ones you have are being turned in late.  You should first discuss wanting additional orders from the company or companies you already have work from.  You can also look online to try and find work from other companies receiving inspections in your area.

When will I get paid for my work?

Please review the resources page, or ask the company issuing you work for a copy of their payment policy.
